A Coaching Walking Retreat
for People at a Crossroads

A journey to renewed energy, yourself, and greater clarity.

You've spent years in mission-driven work. Now you're questioning what comes next, professionally, personally, or both.

Crossroads is a hybrid coaching programme combining individual coaching with a walking retreat from Santiago de Compostela to Fisterra, in Spain, to slow down, reconnect, and find a clearer path forward.

Transformation happens through movement, honest conversations, and connection with nature.

This is for you if you are…

  • Dedicated to international development, humanitarian, human rights or public service work.

  • Navigating shifts in the sector, organisational restructuring, role changes, or uncertainty.

  • Reconsidering priorities, seeking a more meaningful path.

  • Closing one chapter, opening another.

Outcomes

What you'll walk away with

Renewed energy

You'll let go of the tension and compromises you've been carrying. More grounded, centred, replenished.

Trust in the unknown

You'll feel connected, more comfortable with not having all the answers, and confident that clarity will reveal itself.

A truer sense of self

You'll be more self-aware, with a clearer sense of who you are and who you are becoming, separate from your role, organisation, or sector.

A clearer path forward

You'll leave with a renewed sense of what matters and a direction to walk towards, at your own pace.

Why walking

Move to think clearer

Walking calms the nervous system and makes reflection more honest and embodied.

Conversations to go deeper

Walking alongside others in similar situations can help you find your own way. The questions you bring get a truer answer.

Permission to slow down

Nature doesn't rush and doesn't judge. It asks nothing of you, so you can stop performing and face what is.

A change in landscape, a change within

A change in natural landscape impacts our inner landscape. What feels stuck indoors often loosens on the path.

Maria Bardolet

ACC-ICF certified coach

20+ years in international cooperation, including INGOs such as Oxfam and UN agencies such as UNICEF. Working on social and sustainable impact projects while raising my three children. After going through my own burnout process and deep inner search, I learned to prioritise myself and lead from my own authenticity and integrity. I understand where you are because I walked that path too. Through creativity, nature and the body, I found my centre again. Today I support people and organisations to discover who they are and where they want to go, with more clarity and less burnout. Based in Spain, and a lifelong walker of Galician paths.

Our approach

Built from our own crossroads

We set up Crossroads because we've walked our own career and life crossroads, and know that the biggest inner shifts rarely happen at a desk. They happen when we step outside, move our bodies, and give ourselves space to think.

We wanted to create that space for others: a place where the walking, the nature, and the shared conversations can do the work that solo reflection alone rarely quite manages.

The journey

Walk, reflect, integrate

Step by step

Your journey begins the moment you imagine yourself walking

A stone Camino waymarker with the yellow shell and arrow, topped with a cairn of pebbles

Crossroads is more than a one-week walk. It's a personal journey that begins the moment you decide to join, and continues long after you're back home.

  1. Welcome call

We organise a 30-minute call to get to know you and your hopes for this coaching programme. From there, one of us will be assigned as your coach for the rest of your journey.

  2. Setting out

From the moment you sign up, you'll receive gentle warm-up activities for mind, body, heart and spirit, straight to your inbox. Small, regular touches to help you arrive already in motion, not starting cold on day one.

  3. Individual coaching

You have four 60-minute individual sessions, yours to place before and/or after the walk. Used before, they help you arrive with intention. Used after, they make sure what the walk brings up doesn't stay on the trail.

  4. Group calls

Two online calls: one before the retreat to meet the group and answer last questions, and one about a month after to close the programme together.

  5. Walking retreat

Five days moving through Galicia to the ocean, followed by a half-day of reflection and integration in Fisterra. Coaching exercises woven in before, during and after each day's walk, grounding, connection to yourself and nature, and meaningful conversation woven into the walking.

You don't need to arrive with answers. You don't even need to arrive with the right questions. Bring yourself, your presence, and your willingness to walk. That's enough to begin.

In her words

I find that nature becomes my ally: words and emotions flow differently; it acts as a mirror, helping me connect with and express what I'm going through; it even helps me find my own answers. It's as if every element we encounter along the way, the trees, the paths, the wind, the birds, the sounds, comes into service of the process alongside Maria.

Sustainability

Treading lightly

A retreat about slowing down and reconnecting with nature should also take care of it.

  • Less is more. We slow down, do with less, and leave no trace on the land after we walk.

  • Fly less. Travel to Spain without flying and we'll take €200 off.

  • Pack light. Most of what you need for the walk, you already own. We won't hand you a shopping list for one week.

  • Local, always. Tee Travel, the most sustainable agency on the Camino, and local providers along the route.

  • Digital by default. Your welcome pack and dossier arrive by email, not on paper.

  • Giving back. 2% of our revenue goes to Amigas da Terra (Friends of the Earth Galicia).
